Can you say four in a row? That’s what was said after Clyde Scott won his fourth race in a row at Texas Raceway in the Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association.
The Texas Most Wanted team toned down the clutch for the second and final round of qualifying to ensure they would make it “in the show.” The car, still over-powering the track, started to shake and turn sideways at approximately 300 feet. Clyde peddled the car and straightened it out and was able to muster up a 4.33 at 165 mph to take the number five qualifying spot. In the first round, the team faced Thomas “TomSlick” Myers in his nitrous assisted Firebird. The team worked hard to make sure the Corvette would get down the track, which it did, running a 4.27 at 173 mph to Myers’ 4.32 at 165 mph, taking the win. In the final round of eliminations, Clyde was paired with Ken Thomas. As Clyde staged the Corvette, it continued rolling after he had tried to stop the car, almost causing a red-light start. Thomas got off the line first, but Clyde was able to run him down by the finish line with an ET of 4.23 at 177 mph, winning by two hundredths of a second. The car seemed to be on an excellent pass, but the deep staging slowed the run in the first half of the track.
