You could sure tell that last night was the season opener at TXR for the Texas Outlaw Pro Mods. It was standing room only. Everyone wanted to come out and see who put their money where their keyboards were all winter. There were several of the normal heavy hitters not quite ready yet but the show was still awesome! Here's how it went down:

#2 Ken Thomas - 4.202 at 170 mph
#3 Gaylen Smith - 4.250 at 165 mph
#4 Frankie Taylor - 4.316 at 140 mph
#5 Rickey Cate - 4.522 at 162 mph
#6 Thomas Myers - 4.550 at 159 mph
#7 H.T. Wilson - 4.562 at 162 mph
#8 Heath Harvey - 4.883 at 109 mph

#9 Kent Birkes - 5.237 at 133 mph
#10 Greg Green - 5.364 at 131 mph
#11 Grant Hensley - 7.331 at 56 mph
#12 Charlie Matthews - 12.675 at 45 mph

Round 1:

Frankie Taylor (W) 4.062 at 179 mph .111 RT
Rickey Cate (RU) 4.493 at 161 mph .042 RT

Rickey had a huge hole shot on Frankie but it wasn't enough to overcome that 4.06

Thomas Myers (W) 4.177 at 166 mph .092 RT
Gaylen Smith (RU) 4.368 at 132 mph .128 RT

Congratulations to Thomas & Rebecca for a career best ET. Gaylen had been dealing with Gremlins all night and he saw that there wasn't any way he was going to be able to catch that bird (tonite LOL) so he lifted.

Ken Thomas (W) 4.237 at 170 mph .211 RT
H.T. Wilson (RU) no time

I'm not sure what happened to H.T. because I was down at the return road picking up Gaylen but this was a costly win for Ken Thomas as the motor let go at the finsh line. There was a small fire when the rods let go. Glad to see you got it under control without much damage, Ken.

Bobby Booth (W) 4.097 at 174 mph .121 RT
Heath Harvey (RU) 4.257 at 163 mph .078 RT

This was an awesome race to watch from the stands. It looked like Heath was going to pull it off and then all of a sudden, Bobby's win light came on. Congrats Heath on what I believe is a personal best for this team too.

Round 2:

Thomas Myers (W) 4.163 at 171 mph .066 RT
Ken Thomas (RU) no show due to the breakage in round 1

Thomas went up there to make sure he wasn't dreaming in round 1 and laid down another personal best. What a great birthday present.

Frankie Taylor (W) 4.003 at 179 mph .117 RT
Bobby Booth (RU) 4.123 at 172 mph .083 RT

Bobby got out of shape about 1/2 track and looked like he got on the center line but was able to pull it back but it wasn't enough to catch Frankie. Wow, a 4.003. So close to the 3 second barrier at TXR which had been eluding Frankie all of last year. Surely he would be able to do it in the final..........

Final Round:

Frankie Taylor (W) 4.000 at 180 mph .140 RT
Thomas Myers (RU) 5.065 at 100 mph .145 RT

NO, it just wasn't meant to be. A 4.000 is all the track would give Frankie. You'll have to come back next month to see if Paul finds the trick to get the job done at TXR to break into the 3 second barrier.
