4/22/06 - Texas Raceway TOPMA ________ _____________________

Well, it's the 3rd stop on the 2006 championship tour for the Texas Outlaws and some statements were being made last night. Thirteen teams rolled into Red Line Raceway from all different directions. The Taylor boys picked up their Vette from Missouri and they were sporting new colors. I guess that was the only thing they hadn't tried to break into that 3 second zone at a Texas TOPMA race - LOL! Here's what went down:

Final Qualifying order:

#1 Jeremy Brown - 4.067 at 179 mph **New track record**
#2 Frankie Taylor - 4.141 at 171 mph
#3 Bobby Booth - 4.185 at 171 mph
#4 Thomas Myers - 4.186 at 169 mph
#5 Jackie Deaver - 4.233 at 167 mph
#6 Wes Johnston - 4.275 at 171 mph
#7 Heath Harvey - 4.287 at 169 mph
#8 Greg Green - 4.358 at 156 mph

#9 Chuck Nuytten - 4.504 at 131 mph
#10 Chuck Poindexter - 4.901 at 141 mph
#11 Ken Thomas - 4.985 at 151 mph
#12 Gaylen Smith - 5.125 at 77 mph
#13 Rickey "POPS" Cate - 6.570 at 73 mph

First Round:

Bobby Booth (W) 4.040 at 179 mph .552 RT **New Track Record and new personal best**
Wes Johnston (RU) 3.756 at 173 mph 1.014 RT

I guess this would be a good time to tell you that after the rain the DFW area got, FIREANTS made a new home in CADDO MILLS. In the electrical system at Red Line Raceway. During qualifying, the staff of Red Line Raceway had to re-wire the starting line because the tree wouldn't disengage. Well, obviously there were problems else where too as that was apparent after the first run in round one. They re-booted the system (lights and all) and everything was fine after that.

Thomas Myers (W) 4.181 at 178 mph .481 RT
Jackie Deaver (RU) 11.391 at 47 mph .589 RT

Not sure what happened to Jackie but it didn't matter because Slick was on another great run!

Heath Harvey (W) 4.271 at 169 mph .421 RT *Upset win of the night*
Frankie Taylor (RU) 4.298 at 166 mph .552 RT

Frankie left the line and did the wiggle and recovered and stabbed the throttle again but it wasn't enough to overcome Heath's run.

Jeremy Brown (W) 4.137 at 175 mph 1.080 RT
Greg Green (RU) 5.807 at 83 mph .823 RT

Greg had a little trouble and had to abort the run and Jeremy sailed on by.

Semi Finals:

Bobby Booth (W) 4.003 at 179 mph .530 RT **New Track Record and new personal best**
Heath Harvey (RU) 4.311 at 163 mph .426 RT

Heath was going for the holeshot win but it wasn't enough to overcome Bobby's newest personal best and new track record. Congrats to the Booth camp!

Jeremy Brown (W) 4.032 at 180 mph .444 RT
Thomas Myers (RU) 9.886 at 48 mph .431 RT

This would have been a new track record if Jeremy would have run before Bobby. This was setting up an exciting final round......4.00 to a 4.03. Who was going to get the better reaction time off the tree? Harry announced that whoever ran a 3 anything would get an additional $1,000.00

Final Round:

Jeremy Brown (W) 4.084 at 175 mph .428 RT
Bobby Booth (RU) 6.422 at 64 mph .459 RT

Congratulations to Jeremy Brown and the entire Calagna Motorsports team for their FIRST victory. The car looked and performed great ALL NIGHT LONG and it paid off.

Congratulations to Team Booth for their record setting performance in just about every round.

Also, the Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association would like to thank the staff of Red Line Raceway for overcoming all of the obstacles you encountered.
