6/24/06 - TOPMA, Redline Raceway _______________________

As we were driving thru rain in downtown Dallas, it was very clear that mother nature is a Red Line, drag racing fan. The clouds had parted and the sun was shining in Caddo Mills. Ten teams showed up and here's what went down........

#1 Frankie Taylor - 4.028 @ 174 mph **Blown HEMI
#2 Bobby Booth - 4.070 at 176 mph **Blown Wedge
#3 Jeremy Brown - 4.250 at 171 mph ** Blown HEMI
#4 Thomas Myers - 4.263 at 165 mph **Nitrous
#5 Ken Thomas - 4.331 at 166 mph **Nitrous
#6 Jackie Deaver - 4.349 at 168 mph **Nitrous
#7 Gaylen Smith - 4.578 at 155 mph **Blown HEMI (6-cylinder)
#8 Chuck Poindexter - 4.709 at 151 mph **Blown Wedge
#9 Eddie Roach - 5.094 at 142 mph **Nitrous
#10 Chuck Nuytten - 5.576 at 121 mph **Nitrous

First Round:

Thomas Myers (W) 4.247 at 173 mph .479 RT
Chuck Nuyyten (RU) 4.600 at 127 mph .465 RT

Chuck Nuyyten stepped in for an injured Ken Thomas. During 2nd round of qualifying, the nitrous powered "Bad Bird" popped and dropped an intake valve and they were unable to make first round. Thomas Myers almost drove the whole 1/8 mile with the front tires in the air.

Jeremy Brown (W) 4.214 at 171 mph .444 RT
Jackie Deaver (RU) 4.333 at 168 mph .459 RT

Jeremy Brown was at the wheel of Perry Dunn's firechicken.

Frankie Taylor (W) 4.276 at 144 mph .468 RT
Chuck Poindexter (RU) 4.733 at 151 mph .397 RT

In previous rounds, Chuck had a .406 light and a .410 light and he just pushed it a little too hard as he went slightly red at the hit giving the win to Frankie who was on an off-paced pass.

Bobby Booth (W) 4.076 at 179 mph .495 RT
Gaylen Smith (RU) 5.123 at 97 mph .491 RT

Bobby was tied to a string and Team TBH still fighting demons. I guess I'll just have to wait another couple of weeks for my BIRTHDAY PRESENT guys!!

Semi-Finals:

Bobby Booth (W) 4.075 at 174 mph .496 RT
Jeremy Brown (RU) 4.301 at 169 mph .469 RT

Bobby had that 'Vette dialed in. He could have bracket raced that thing tonight.

Thomas Myers (W) 4.265 at 177 mph .430 RT
Frankie Taylor (RU) 4.283 at 168 mph .481 RT

This was a spectator's race to watch. Both cars were driving the cars from the rear tires because the front ones were in the air in both lanes. Frankie had a little trouble taming the "BEAST" and Thomas took advantage of that.

Finals:

Bobby Booth (W) 4.059 at 173 mph .486 RT
Thomas Myers (RU) 4.271 at 163 mph .442 RT

Well, Bobby is finally the bride. Congratulations on your well deserved win. Congratulations to Thomas & Rebecca Myers for runner-up. (Becca, you've already been the bride)

Blown - 8
Nitrous - 2
