What a great day to be racing........(if it were about 20 degrees cooler). The heat didn't stop 12 teams from rolling into Caddo Mills at Red Line Raceway. After 2 rounds of qualifying, here's what went down:
#1 Thomas Myers - 4.203 at 172 mph
#2 Bobby Booth - 4.253 at 168 mph
#3 Doug Riesterer - 4.333 at 152 mph
#4 Jeremy Brown - 4.349 at 137 mph
#5 Keith Farris - 4.415 at 162 mph
#6 Gaylen Smith - 4.594 at 124 mph
#7 Heath Harvey - 4.810 at 155 mph
#8 Frankie Taylor - 4.878 at 113 mph
#9 Chuck Poindexter - 4.888 at 144 mph
#10 Wes Johnston - 4.961 at 107 mph
#11 Chris Smith - 5.012 at 159 mph
#12 Chuck Nuytten - 5.233 at 145 mph
Round 1:
Keith Farris (W) 4.560 at 156 mph (.462 RT)
Chuck Poindexter - Broke during burnout.
Chuck filled in for Jeremy Brown who kicked the rods out on his 2nd qualifying attempt. Keith got the competition bye win.
Doug Riesterer (W) 4.097 at 178 mph (.576 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 4.274 at 163 mph (.444 RT)
Gaylen did his job on the tree but the car unloaded twice during the run and he was not able to hold off Doug's personal best. Doug passed him at the stripe. Congratulations to Doug on the 4.09 pass!
Bobby Booth (W) 4.207 at 171 mph (.477 RT)
Heath Harvey (RU) 4.359 at 165 mph (.3997 RT)
Heath had problems during qualifying and barely made the show. He pushed it a little too hard at the tree and left the red amber glowing. Bobby drove thru a little tire shake and takes the win.
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.568 at 140 mph (.481 RT)
Thomas Myers (RU) 20.05 at 18 mph (.689 RT)
Frankie took advantage of Thomas forgetting to turn the nitrous switch on. The car bogged out of the hole and Thomas knew it was over as he coasted thru. Frankie pulls off a major upset (this wouldn't be the only one either.)
Semi-Finals:
Frankie Taylor (W) 5.239 at 130 mph (.453 RT)
Keith Farris (RU) 11.757 at 34 mph (.488 RT)
Keith's car got out of shape early in the run and Frankie once again pulled off the upset win. It looks like Frankie's been practicing on the tree a little.
Doug Riesterer (W) 4.054 at 180 mph (.511 RT)
Bobby Booth (RU) 4.189 at 173 mph (.490 RT)
If there was anyone out there that thought Doug's 4.09 pass was a fluke, he just took the doubts away. Another personal best for Doug, congrats guys! Bobby was on a good run he just couldn't catch that Camaro.
Finals:
Doug Riesterer (W) 4.985 at 101 mph (.402 RT)
Frankie Taylor (RU) 4.967 at 106 mph (.389 RT)
Well, Frankie practiced a little too much as he also left the red amber glowing giving the win to Doug who had to shut his down and coasted on in for the win. Congratulations Doug on your win and it seems like you have a handle on that new car! Congrats to the Taylor boys too. By looking at the ET's, you would have never thought that you would end with a runner-up finish!
The Texas Outlaw Pro Mod Association would like to thank Jerry Goss for the hospitality at the end of the track. The bottled water and cold towels for our guys after they get out of the car was a great idea!
Nitrous - 5
Blown - 11
