First Round:
Steve Wiley (W) 4.381 at 161 mph (.083 RT)
Ken Thomas (RU) 4.203 at 171 mph (-.209 RT)
Fresh off his runner-up finish in Houston, Steve keeps the steak alive and takes advantage of the red light start from Ken and takes the win. Ken was on a nice pass but fouled the tree.
Thomas Myers (W) 4.189 at 172 mph (.055 RT)
Randall Reid (RU) 4.339 at 163 mph (.015 RT)
Despite chopping the tree down, Randall could not hold off Thomas Myers as he charged right on by Reid for the win.
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.009 at 181 mph (.084 RT)
Gaylen Smith (RU) 5.940 at 78 mph (.045 RT)
Gaylen had the hole shot advantage, but the '41 Willys went left and Gaylen had to lift. Frankie finally got a combination that would go down the track and sailed down the House of Hot Rods lane for the win.
Mat Thomas (W) 4.555 at 154 mph (-.100 RT) Competition Bye
Wes Johnston (RU) No time
Something went away on the "WWW" '53 Vette and he was unable to back up so Mat took the win.
Semi-Finals:
Steve Wiley (W) 4.151 at 175 mph (.106 RT)
Mat Thomas (RU) 4.628 at 153 mph (.265 RT)
Not sure why Mat was so late leaving but it didn't matter as the Texas Grim Reaper kept his winning steak alive for another final round appearance.
Frankie Taylor (W) 4.052 at 168 mph (.091 RT)
Thomas Myers (RU) 4.248 at 159 mph (.130 RT)
Frankie got the hole shot and takes the win on a pretty costly pass.
Finals:
Frankie Taylor (W) 9.950 at 60 mph (.635 RT)
Steve Wiley (RU) No time
Well, the winning streak ended here for Steve Wiley in his '68 Texas Grim Reaper Camaro as he was shut off on the starting line for an oil leak which was a blessing for the Taylor Boys since they hurt their motor in the previous round but they weren't gonna give up. It wasn't a pretty win but a wins a win! Congratulations to the Taylor Boys for their 2nd win at TXR and to Steve Wiley for his 2nd runner-up finish.
After elimination rounds a couple of the cars made some test passes and Ken Thomas ran a 4.15 so look for him to be a tough competitor.
See y'all next weekend at Red Line Raceway!
